Who We Are

Our Training Philosophy

Here at Stockman Dog Training, we utilize positive reinforcement training. We believe that building a relationship based on trust and understanding between the owner and dog is crucial for the happiness and healthiness of our canine companions. We encourage our clients to look at training as two-way communication between them and their dog. We also believe that every dog and client learn differently, so we don’t limit ourselves to just one method for any of our training. Every method that we use is backed by modern research and science and is in compliance with the LIMA principle (least intrusive, minimally aversive). We believe that the common behavioral problems that we are asked to help with are not the true problems, but in most cases an outward symptom of a deeper problem within the dog, so we take a holistic approach and address the root of the problem rather than just the symptoms.

Cole Stockman (owner)

Hello! My name is Cole, and I’m the owner and lead trainer at Stockman dog training. I have dedicated the last six years of my life to studying and understanding dog behavior, and the relationships that humans and dogs form with one another. I have been training dogs professionally for 5 years, and in that time have worked with hundreds of different dogs and owners, working in almost every area of dog training, from truffle hunting to personal protection training. I am also currently pursuing furthered education in behavioral biology, and ethology. Through the years I have decided to devote my energy into learning as much as possible about dog obedience training and behavior modification. In this time, I have observed that all dogs and dog owners learn differently, and it is impossible to fit every dog into just one training style or method. So, I have spent my dog training career learning as many methods and styles as I possibly can so I can provide clients with tailor made custom training programs to get desired results in an efficient and fun way for both the owner and the dog.

Anna Porter

Hi, my name is Anna, and I manage social media and marketing for Stockman Dog Training! I have been around dogs my whole life, but it wasn’t until I adopted my own, Harlow, that I started getting more serious about working with dogs. I am very passionate about dogs and want everyone to have the best relationship with their canine companion as possible! I love spending time with my pups in and around the beautiful Whatcom County!

Mose

This is Mose! Mose is a German shepherd who has been a part of our team since he was 12 weeks old. Since Mose was very young, we could see that he was very well suited for helping other dogs overcome trouble that they have. He provides a calm and easygoing energy to dogs in training sessions and helps them overcome fear and anxiety, over excitement, and even aggression! Mose also enjoys playing tug, learning new tricks and hanging out at breweries.

Harlow

This is Harlow, She is a mixed breed rescue From the streets of Texas. When Harlow came to us she dealt with severe dog reactivity. After a while of serious training, counter conditioning, and socialization, she is doing so much better that she can now be used in training sessions with other dogs that have similar issues! Harlow’s favorite things are playing fetch, going on walks at the beach, and swimming!
